Looking Back At Fan Expo Dallas 2025
This month, Fan Expo Dallas returned to the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Center for the conventions 2025 run. The three-day event brought some huge names from the entertainment industry, along with some of the state’s best cosplay. To celebrate Back To The Future’s 40th anniversary, Fan Expo brought the trilogy’s stars to DFW. Michael J. Fox, Lea Thompson, Christopher Lloyd, and Tom Wilson were joined by a plethora of their costars for panels and autographs.
However, there were many other celebrities in attendance of equal caliber. Orlando Bloom, John Cena, Priscilla Presley, and John Rhys-Davies are just a few names that could be found at FXD 2025. The talent was definitely a huge draw for attendees, but there were plenty of other reasons to enjoy this year’s show as well. There were several rooms dedicated to fandoms where attendees could gather, play games, and discuss their shared passions. We even happened upon a silent disco room overlooking the convention lobby, a nice getaway for those that needed a break from the crowds.
Fan Expo has done a great job of continuing to adapt and cater to the needs of the convention’s fans. My family enjoyed searching for themed rubber ducks that Fan Expo had hidden throughout the site, making a unique souvenir for those lucky enough to stumble across one. The designated kids’ area had several crafting stations, a small stage, and even functioning droids from Star Wars roaming around. Multiple themed backdrops were even scattered along the walkways of the convention floors for photo opportunities.
Hundreds of unique vendors lined the main showroom floor. Earrings, comics, plush items, clothing, and almost any pop culture items imaginable could be found. The crowds on Saturday morning were honestly a bit overwhelming and made it a bit difficult to navigate around if there were several people in your party. Luckily, it thinned out as the day went on and allowed us to explore what each area had to offer. The longest line we encountered was actually the prop weapon check before entering, which took a little over twenty minutes. That said, Fan Expo did a good job of controlling the crowds in other areas. For instance, they divvied up the photo lines for the more popular celebrities, which helped regulate traffic and make the wait feel shorter.
As usual, one of the biggest highlights of the show is simply admiring the cosplayers in attendance. Graphic novels, video games, movies, television shows… all were represented by various fans in costume.
