The 17th annual Deep Ellum Arts Festival rolls out the biggest party of the year. Six blocks of Main Street in the Deep Ellum entertainment district will be transformed into one enormous street festival featuring, 130 top-notch juried decorative and visual artists, 80 original bands, singer/songwriters and performance artists performing from 5 different stages, the renowned Pet Parade, and copious food and drink.

Nationally known environmental historian Dr. James McWilliams, winner of the 2009 Hiett Prize in the Humanities, will lead the Fall Symposium of the Institute’s Environmental Forum. Appearing with Dr. McWilliams will be spokespersons from a variety of environmental fields.
McWilliams will explore questions on eating responsibly, ethical implications and the consequences that affect our environment and more specifically the lives of other people.
The Dallas Observer will be hosting its 3rd annual Wine & Dine event, benefiting El Centro College Kitchen & Culinary Arts Foundation Scholarship Fund and the Greater Dallas Restaurant Association Scholarship Fund.
Tickets are $25 in advance ($40 at the door) and includes samplings of wine, beer, spirits and food from over 30 area restaurants. I bet this event will be more wild than you think.
It’s true! Mockingbird Station will host its own farmers’ market, beginning on April 22nd from 5-8pm. To kick off the market, and to educate you about going green, the Station will be offering a workshop to educate you on energy, recycling and conservation. Savor Dallas is an annual event that started five years ago by co-founders Vicki Briley-White and Jim White. Each year seems to have a unique memory behind it. What struck me to post about this event (all wine aside) is Savor Dallas donates a portion of net proceeds to three local charities: North Texas Food Bank, The Education and Scholarship Fund for the Greater Dallas Restaurant Association, and The Arts Magnet Building Campaign for Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. I listed Friday’s special tasting event and the 3 Saturday wine tasting seminars.
