Celebrate Homecoming with Kirk Thurmond & The Millennials on March 11

KTAM Break Free Single Art

Dallas-based singer-songwriter Kirk Thurmond will host a special showcase at Oak Cliff-based indie record shop Spinster Records on March 11 at 8 p.m. Enjoy a night of R&B music and soulful vocals at the show while supporting one of the coolest artists in town!

Spinster Records located at 829 W. Davis St., Dallas, Texas 75208. The event is free to attend and features performances by Becky Middleton and Wesley Geiger.

Born and raised in Dallas, singer-songwriter and guitar aficionado Kirk Thurmond joined forces with six band members to create the musical group in November 2013 after a one-time show at The Prophet Bar. Thurmond, fresh off a solo college tour, set out to put a burn-down-the-house soul show for the audience that night, without any idea that the group would end up sharing the stage for two years. A musical pursuit obsessed with executing each live performance to perfection, Thurmond found his match in the artists who make up The Millennials with Gino Iglehart on percussion, Mike Clowes on electric guitar, Chris Brenham on key, Jay Sandford on bass guitar, and Jamall Houston and Chanese Jones on background vocals.

Thurmond celebrates his first national solo tour after signing with AGD Entertainment, a booking agency and his group’s recently released single “Break Free.” The artist’s laid back, soulful vocals and fresh guitar riffs complement complex lyrics in the new track, saying a lot about the artist’s own perspective and deep understanding of the subjects of relationships and love. The end result is a musically intricate track blending soul, pop and R&B that’s relatable.

“Break Free” is available for purchase via iTunes, Spotify and their official website,
