Since our initial announcement of the upcoming annual Digital Summit Dallas event, we thought you might like to know that of the 45 featured speakers at Digital Summit Dallas, three are Dallas-based. So if you weren’t already interested in attending before, this local look at the conference should give you some much needed inspiration.

Joan Baez, Brandi Carlile, Lila Downs, Steve Earle, Patty Griffin, Emmylou Harris, Dave Matthews, James McMurtry, Buddy Miller, Alynda Segarra, The Mastersons, Lucinda Williams – all Grammy winners and Grammy nominated artists – are donating their talent this month in eight cities for Lampedusa: Concerts for Refugees including Dallas this weekend.

Jen Kirkman is back on tour this year – with all new material. Stories and jokes that you haven’t seen on her Netflix specials. Don’t worry. She covers the bottomless pit of comedy that is Drumpf and also talks about her year of seeing fraudulent spiritual healers, holidays without family, being accused of not being “woke” by young people, and tales of when she was a young obnoxious third party voter, and pretentious hater of pop culture.

Dallas Fan Days 2017 will have its fair share of pop icons in attendance, but arguably none as nostalgic as actress Mara Wilson. You may recognize Mara from her childhood roles in classic 90s movies such as Matilda, Mrs. Doubtfire, and Miracle on 34th Street. Many people, such as myself, grew up watching her on the big screen and were left wondering what happened to the promising young actress after she abruptly exited the Hollywood scene. We were lucky enough to catch up with Mara in an exclusive interview before she makes her first Dallas appearance next weekend.

The Junior League of Dallas has the distinct pleasure of announcing Academy Award-winning actress Octavia Spencer as the keynote speaker of The Milestones Luncheon, presented by The Kohl Foundation. Spencer, a highly talented actress with a love affair with film, has been featured in a variety of roles since 1986.

Legendary American rapper, singer-songwriter, musician, slam poet, writer, and actor, Saul Williams is headed to Dallas this month presented by Wordspace and Dallas Poetry Slam. Known for his blend of poetry and alternative hip hop, and for his lead roles in the 1998 independent film Slam, and the 2013 jukebox musical Holler If Ya Hear Me, featuring Tupac Shakur’s music.
