[ June 19, 2009; 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. ] YoungNCultured is kicking off their first concert series event at AMLI Quadrangle this Friday, June 19th. This month's concert series brings in Fort Worth music icons Traveler. The band begins at 8:13pm. Get there early, and stay late.

[ May 16, 2009; 10:00 pm to 11:59 pm. ] El Ten Eleven is a two piece instrumental band out of Los Angeles, CA. Bassist and composer Kristian Dunn and drummer Tim Fogarty have been playing together since 2003 and was a showcase artist at SXSW in 2006.

I first heard El Ten Eleven on the soundtrack of Helvetica, an independent documentary released in 2007. I was hooked on the entire soundtrack for a couple of months.

If you're looking for a laid back, low key scene this Saturday, I would recommend making your way to Double Wide around 10:30pm and listening to this duo live at 11.

[ May 17, 2009; 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm. ] Looking for something free to do this Sunday? Lakewoodstock invites you to shop, eat, drink and learn about greener living. Enjoy live music from local acts on two main stages, plus there will be a singer/songwriter stage on the patio at Whole Foods. The neighborhood festival is from 2-8pm this Sunday, May 17th.

June 18, 2009; 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm. ] It's not often I post about music shows in Dallas, and it's not because Dallas does not have great acts coming through, it's just that I'm not the source to go to for music. If you are an author of/for one of these sites, thank you for keeping us up-to-date on all the local shows in DFW. There is nothing worse than going to a bands website and finding out they were in town ... 2 days ago. And so, 2 bands I've been excited about now for a while are coming to Dallas in June.

Chill out poolside and enjoy the best view in Dallas. Bring your blanket, good friends, and listen to some damn good indie singer-songwriters from Austin, Texas. [ April 3, 2009; 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. ] Strokes for a Cure is an event featuring two artists: a musician and a painter. Together they will originate a work of art for a worthy cause. Seth Simmons, pianist, will play his original compositions while Rolando Diaz, Cuban-American artist, paints an original oil on canvas. A silent auction for the painting will follow their performance. Strokes for a Cure is a benefit for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Good Records is definitely a unique Dallas place to check out. It is an independent music store located at 1808 Lower Greenville. It is a small, inviting store, tucked away from the street. Inside, random cotton candy colors and rows of light bulbs decorate the walls and CD racks. Good Records is known for their selection. Think of an obscure band... They probably carry it!

[ March 26, 2009; 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. ] Art Garfunkel is a singer, songwriter, poet, actor, long-distance walker, avid walker and reader. If you just had one question to ask this man, what would it be? And if you didn't even have to think about that one, take your chance and ask him in person. Garfunkel is making an appearance for NasherSALON's Lecture series on March 26th, 2009.
