The 33rd Annual Dallas International Guitar Festival kicks off and continues throughout the weekend, bringing world renowned musicians, and scores of fans to the city for what is sure to be a weekend full of amazing memories and even more amazing music.  The festival is the world's largest and oldest guitar festival, and annually draws tens of thousands of attendees, last year drawing 20,000 people to Dallas Market Hall, where the event will be held again this year. 

Well it almost sneaked up on you, but have no fear because I’ve got the scoop on Record Store Day! This Saturday, April 17th, independently owned record stores both locally and nationally will collaborate with artists to celebrate music. This is the perfect opportunity for you to support your local record store, artists, and hear some new music!

Every Monday, Lower Greenville is home to some of the best and brightest musical talent in the city of Dallas; but it's not coming from one of the countless bars that line its streets, and the songs aren't sung by some indie, pop-rock, jam band. No- these songs are sung by a group that the Dallas Observer has called the "Best Belters" in the city. This is Mama's Party.

Another awesome indie-folk band coming through Dallas this year is Blind Pilot. The Portland duo released their debut album in 2008 and went on a bicycle tour with their instruments, stopping in over 2 dozen cities along the way. Their single "Go On, Say It" was chosen as the iTunes free single of the week and they have since opened with Aimee Mann, toured with The Decemberists, and will play at this year's Lollapalooza in Chicago, IL. Go see them live in Dallas on Wednesday, October 28th at The Granada Theater.

Join other Young and Cultured people like yourself on July 17th and welcome Becky Middleton to the Concerts @ Stage. The concert event is free and so are the food and drinks. Come early and stay late.

And/Or Gallery Press Release #23: A final music installation and dance party to celebrate And/Or Gallery's move to NYC (Fall 2009), The House of Dang's relocation to a design studio in Oakcliff and their new clothing line to open with Launch, at the Galleria (Fall 2009).

In the gallery during this party, we're creating a replica of a rave, which you may notice is not dissimilar from shows we've put on before except for the volume. Video content will be provided by our artists: Kevin Bewersdorf, Paul Slocum, Guthrie Lonergan, Tom Moody, Marcin Ramocki, Kristin Lucas, Michael Bell-Smith, and Travis Hallenbeck. The music will be a mixture of house and rave-appropriate techno, selected by Paul Slocum. The playlist will include remixes and new material by Tree Wave. It's the LAST DANCE!

Sarah Jaffe playing at House of Dang on Wednesday June 24th at 8pm. This chick is pretty awesome and has a strong voice that hits high notes and deep emotions. Check her out before the show on DC9 in Space (video below) and NPR's Song of the Day.
