In addition to legendary killers, the more upstanding Stevie Ray Vaughn, Erykah Badu, Edie Brickell, Dennis Rodman, and T-Bone Walker also once called it home. And these days, there seems to be some sort of festival almost every weekend, whether it’s the Oak Cliff Art Crawl , the Oak Cliff Block Party Peace Festival, the Oak Cliff Mardi Gras, the Oak Cliff Earth Day Festival, or Cyclesomatic.

October 28, 2009; 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm. ] Every Wednesday night this month, the Belmont Hotel, in conjunction with Corgan Media Lab, will be showing movies under the stars. Bring your blanket and enjoy a flick with the most beautiful view of Dallas as your backdrop.

[ May 20, 2009; 7:30 pm to 10:00 pm. ] Classic movie night at The Belmont Hotel would be perfect for a date night or even going without one. Alright, perhaps this is an event that yields better with company, so bring a friend and a big blanket. BarBelmont will be serving food and alcohol, so don't bring your beer cooler. Doors will open at 7:30pm and the movie will begin at sundown. Running late? Don't worry. Valet parking is provided, and admission is free.
