Dallas-based beauty sample service Smackages.com, is hosting Dallas’ 2 Annual Singles Awareness Day: REMIXED event to benefit local charities. Singles: REMIXED, which will be held on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at aLoft Hotel, features music, mingling, raffles, drink specials and entertainment, provides fun for locals who are unattached for Valentine’s Day.
“Singles often feel pressure to date and that feeling becomes more apparent around Valentine’s Day. Singles: REMIXED is a relief from that. It actually celebrates being single.” said Rosilyn Rayborn, Smackages.com founder and event organizer.
Event attendees are encouraged, and incented, to meet new people with the use of Minglebird, a smartphone app that facilitates networking. “Meet a person. Snap a pic and that’s it. You can actually unlock prizes just for meeting people. It was a hit last year, so we can’t wait to do it again!”
Minglebird isn’t the only thing attendees have to look forward to. Last year, Glenn Pakulak and Neill Skylar from Bravo TV’s Most Eligible Dallas attended the event and the casting crew from the CBS dating show, 3, attended the event to scout cast members. “None of last year’s attendees made the cut, but many of them were interviewed. That just goes to show, you never know what to expect at Singles: REMIXED.”
The event has a lot to offer for the tech-savvy singles of Dallas. “We’re all attached to our phones. And since most of the organizers have backgrounds in social media and tech, it’s inevitable that those things are reflected in the event. Some activities require the use of a smartphone. But, of course, there’s nothing wrong with meeting the old-fashioned way—just going up to people.”
2930 Creative, a Dallas firm that specializes in engagement, is sponsoring the music. “Music has a way of breaking the ice, so attendees will be able to dictate the event’s playlist right from their smartphone. We expect a lot of conversations to be sparked over that.” Said Carly Rowe, principal of 2930.
But, all of the conversation is for a cause. At last year’s Singles: REMIXED event, whose sponsors included Yelp, Eventbrite, Zodiac Vodka and more, Dallas singles learned about volunteer opportunities and raised $1,000 for Big Brothers, Big Sisters and this year, the organizers hope to raise even more.
