Meso Maya offers “an adventure into the fresh, bold and earthy flavors of authentic interior Mexico” with a menu inspired by natural ingredients from Mexico with scratch moles, adobos, salsas, and hand-ground tortillas. The menu, created by Executive Chef Nico Sanchez, is true to the genuine essence of Mexico. Chef Sanchez honed his skills at several restaurants throughout his native country, in states such as Veracruz, where he learned about seafood, dried chilies, and making sauces from scratch, and Oaxaca, where he perfected tamale-making techniques. Meso Maya has received national acclaim including: the brunch menu’s Croque Señor was named as one of the “14 Hottest New Sandwiches Around the U.S.” by Zagat; one of “The 21 Best Mexican Restaurants in America” by Thrillist; D magazine’s “Best of Big D 2015”in which readers selected Chef Nico Sanchez as “Best Chef” and Meso Maya as “Best Regional Mexican Food.”
Meso Maya is also known for its distinctive hand-crafted margaritas such as the original Avocado Margarita; the restaurants offer over 40 sipping tequilas. There are two Meso Maya locations currently open in Dallas: downtown across from the Perot Museum of Nature and Science and at Preston Forest Shopping Center in north Dallas. Meso Maya plans on opening additional locations in 2016 including a site in the historic Kress Building in Fort Worth and in the Mockingbird Abrams Shopping Center in Lakewood.
