National Polka Festival will be held in Ennis, Texas, Friday through Sunday, May 24-26, 2013, with the purpose of celebrating the Czech heritage of the local area. These festivities are held annually on Memorial Day Weekend, and feature an abundance of cultural activities that can be enjoyed by the entire family in a small city atmosphere. Admission varies by day.

DFW International Community Alliance presents the annual Dallas International Festival Saturday, May 25, 2013 - 10 am - 8 pm in the Centennial Building at Fair Park. Dallas International Festival is an International Bazaar with more than 100 booths a Global Cuisines Pavilion, a Parade of Nations, a Passport to Adventure game, the Unity Garden, the Childrens Discovery Center, demos by Master Chefs, and a Global Drum Circle.

The largest gathering of Asian Pacific Americans in the Dallas area, Asian Festival will take place tomorrow (Saturday), May 18th, 2013, at Main Street Garden starting at 11:00 am and ending at 6:00 pm. Each year, the Asian Festival attracts thousands of people from all over North Texas and showcases more than 30 Asian cultural performances; ranging from dance, martial arts, acrobats, dragon dances, hula dancers and many more.

Common Desk is a coworking space on Commerce Street in Deep Ellum where entrepreneurs, startup companies, and freelancers office for the purpose of collaboration and synergy. Common Desk acts as an alternative to working from home or a coffee shop where engagement with other like-minded business owners and entrepreneurs may be minimal to nonexistent.

Texas Scottish Festival & Highland Games' 27th anniversary and event is scheduled for May 3rd, 4th, and 5th, 2013, and will feature top Scottish musicians, professional athletes, and champion highland dancers, and an exciting array of food, merchandise, souvenirs, and beverages from Scotland and Great Britain to be held in the Mavericks Stadium in Arlington, Texas. This year's festival has an expected attendance in excess of 40,000 for the three day event.

DFW Rocks Social Media Day 2013 Conference, hosted by Lissa Duty, will take place Saturday, June 29th and Sunday, June 30th at Holiday Inn Ballroom in Richardson, Texas, with the purpose of teaching social media marketing tactics and strategies to 250 professional and business owner attendees. This is DFW Rocks Social Media Day Conference's second year, a Dallas social media workshop that coincides annually with the celebration of Social Media Day.

The 38th annual Germanfest takes place Friday April 26 through Sunday April 28 in Muenster, Texas. It's a three-day-long party with German food and fun activities for adults and children.

In this eleventh episode of I Live In Dallas Radio, co-hosted by myself and Jason Channell, we interview Alexandra Liss, who took a 21 country, six continent, tour for seven months using the website CouchSurfing.org. Liss directed and stars in the documentary One Couch at a Time, that has been showing across the United States at indie theaters and cities with large communities of couchsurfers that have been hosting screenings. We also spoke with the film's producer Jean-Michel Werk and local Dallas-Fort Worth community couchsurfing tribe leader Brad Wilson, whom consequently met his wife via hosting events for local couchsurfers.
