Some of you may have seen the article ranking the best 18 Dallas-area breweries. The article takes a fairly subjective view on a majority of the DFW (Ft. Worth is not Dallas-area) with no basis for the author's ranking, other than his own opinion on the matter.
The next round of Untapped Festivals is finally here! In addition to the usual festivals in Dallas, Fort Worth, and Houston, Untapped has also expanded down I-35 to both Austin (April 18th) and San Antonio. This year, Untapped Fort Worth will be on May 9th at Panther Island Pavilion. While the brewery line up has not been announced yet, this year's music festival will include the likes of The Lone Bellow, Big Data, and local band Telegraph Canyon. Festival organizer, Spune Productions, boasts that over 70 breweries with over 250 beers will be there touting both local and national breweries.
Tweet It may not be obvious from the surface, but the camaraderie in the local beer scene has been 'brewing' since Rahr opened, and it was clearly visible at this year's Untapped Festival. The Big Texas Beer Fest returns to Dallas’ Fair Park on April 5th after two highly successful events in 2012 and 2013. Named as Dallas Observer’s best beer festival two years in a row, and drawing more than 5,000 attendees last year, the event will be held in same location in Fair Park’s Automobile Building. This year’s event intends to attract nearly 100 breweries, believed to be the most of any Texas beer festival, including over 25 breweries from the state of Texas.
Despite the on-and-off drizzle and the cooler temperatures, the masses came out for the Untapped Beer and Music Festival in Fort Worth. Personally, I was the one hoping the weather would keep away more people, leaving shorter beer lines for the rest of us.
Beer and music have always been great together. They practically go hand-in-hand, as seen by the explosion of the popularity of the Untapped Music and Beer Festival. Now, breweries are starting to jump on the same trend. Dogfish Head Brewery has an entire line up of music inspired beers, including: Miles Davis Bitches Brew Imperial Stout and most recently the Grateful Dead American Beauty IPA.
