[ July 17, 2009 7:00 pm to August 9, 2009 6:00 pm. ] The Art of Dr. Seuss is a National touring exhibition honoring the 100th Seussentennial celebration... and it's coming to Dallas! Storyopolis Fine Art and The 4th Wall Gallery invite you to discover the wildly imaginary work of Theodor Seuss Geisel.

The exhibit chronicles 70 years of artistic creations, including rare early works of poetry, advertising works, WWII editorial cartoons, magazine covers from the 1920's & 1930's, his collection of unorthodox taxidermy, the Secret Art, and never-before-seen works from Seuss's personal archives. What a treasure this will be!

Thursday Nights are Free at Nasher Sculpture Center

August 27, 2009; 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. ] Every Thursday Nasher opens their doors to the public by providing Free admission to their patrons. Get over there and build up your appreciation for modern and contemporary sculpture and have a relaxing dinner overlooking the fountains at the Nasher café. Also, tonight if Free Films on First Thursday. Each month the Dallas Film Society presents a free showing of a classic award-winning American movie, based on major American novels. Tonight feature film is JAWS.

Arts & Letters Live Special Event: Deborah Nadoolman Landis

[ July 27, 2009; 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm. ] The DMA will host Author and Academy Award-nominated costume designer, Deborah Nadoolman Landis. Lanis will discuss how costumes help bring characters to life in Hollywood using examples from her book Dressed: A Century of Hollywood Costume Design.

Opening Reception of Roberta Harris: UP at The Women's Museum

[ July 11, 2009; 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. ] The Women's Museum will be celebrating the opening art exhibit of Roberta Harris: UP on Saturday, July 11th, 2009. Meet the Houston-based artist in person and view her artwork from 1985 to the present. Her latest work, birds and grid, looks beautiful online. I spoke with Alyssa Gardina who said Harris' "Apple Sky" will be displayed at the exhibit. Yay!

[ July 9, 2009; 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. ] The Meadows Museum at SMU will be presenting a three-week lecture series exploring the social, cultural and political climate of Mexico during Diego Rivera's lifetime. The lectures are free and advanced registration is not required.
